Today's Merriam-Webster word of the day is a strong choice. (In case you prefer Spanish the equivalent verb is tutear.) (Nerd party!)

When would this word be used in english? I don't think we use it when the barista or student calls you "dude" instead of "sir" or "professor." Why did we import it?
given that we don't have multiple pronoun forms of "you"
But you just proved my point! We don't have the verb but we definitely have the concept.
