Administrative note: Baseball Week: The Vengeance is being pushed back to Aug. 9-15, for the 1.68 parties interested. I have nothing to say for myself, July just got away from me. If you need something to do, might I suggest picking up David Mitchell's excellent CLOUD ATLAS for the AV Club's book club next week? (Plug city! But honestly, it's going to be really fun.)

I am happy to wait for baseball week, because I know it'll be worth it once it gets here.
As for Cloud Atlas, I hadn't enjoyed a novel that much in a long time, until the 80-page middle section in pidgin just totally brought the book to a halt for me . . . I know its something the reader just has to get through, but I got tired of having to re-read everything to try to decipher it; particularly during a week when I was really busy and could only really read on the subway, it was just very slow going for a while. It could still be worth it if Mitchell is able to tie it into the rest of the stories, but it would have to be done particularly well to justify it.
Don't give up hope! It gets better.
