1. If they don't stand outside and yell, it's not a real Oscar contender, and
2. Holy bad haircut, Carey Mulligan. You have my sympathies.
3. Who am I kidding, I'll see it anyway.
What do you think?
When I was little, I knew I was a bookworm but not what order to say it in.

Ellen, I'm revisiting this old post to thank you for telling me that this trailer ruined the entire plot/book. I hadn't read the book despite owning it, and was like, oh no, no spoilers, hell no, and avoided any discussion/watching of the trailer until finally I did read the book (after a friend who saw the trailer said she was intrigued by it; I think she misinterpreted all of it) and watched the trailer and was like, wow, worst trailer ever. Way to just completely strip away the careful way in which the whole plot/world/etc. is revealed, and spell it all out. Worst. Will still see it. Sigh.
If I have saved one person, my work here is done!
I can see some studio exec thinking that the relationships among the characters, without their background, wouldn't be compelling enough for a trailer... but it should have been stopped at some point by someone who had actually read the book. I'm still interested though, mostly for Mulligan Vs Knightley, The Battle of the Cheekbones.
