2. Read at least 12 books on the Modern Library list so I can finish it in the next 5 years.
3. Read THE POWER BROKER so the next time I rip on Robert Moses I will have concrete examples to cite besides "getting to LaGuardia Airport is terrible"...
4. In fact, read more biographies in general because they offer perspective that I badly need right now.
5. Read as many of the Tournament of Books picks as possible before the tourney. (One down!)
6. Keep reading the unread books I own and giving them away as appropriate.

Those are excellent resolutions! #6 in particular is a big one for me -- I recently took an inventory and counted more than 250 unread books in my apartment! Actually, my first step may be to read the books I've borrowed, or which other people have loaned to me, to get those out of the apartment first, before I tackle the books I own. But that's my biggest resolution for the next year.
I've wanted to read more Caro ever since that excellent NYT Magazine profile on him last year. Is Power Broker available as a Kindle book? Last I checked it wasn't.
D.H.: Not only is POWER BROKER not available on Kindle, Caro has said in interviews that he doesn't want it to become an ebook. What a curmudgeon! But his LBJ books are available digitally, so there's hope.
Wade, I am shocked/ kind of impressed by your unread totals. The last time I counted I was hovering around 100 (excluding ebooks), and I consider that too high.
Yeah to #6 as well! K and I had been discussing recently what percentage of books in our house are unread, so I guess we'll have to find out.

I took WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE on vacation with me and finished it, so I will try and send it to you today. It's a fast read and I liked it with reservations, but I'll be curious to see what you say! Only, ah, 11 to go.

yay i cant wait to read bernadette. my understanding is that it's very "pacific northwest" and people i know who live here and read it said it was like, everyone in seattle. it sounds funny and annoying, much like the seattle traffic.

also, im really annoyed that chris ware's book is sold out everywhere. my library won't buy it. good for him. bad for me.
Yeah, my library has BUILDING STORIES listed as "on order," but I'm not holding my breath. And I kind of don't want to read BRING UP THE BODIES without tackling WOLF HALL first, but I don't know if I have time for both. We'll see.
I bought Wolf Hall so I could read it first, but I won't lie: it's not at the top of my list.
I think I'm just going to buy the Chris Ware book, even though I am pretty sure I might regret it. Not because it's not great, but because I don't want to own a "book" that's so giant.
