But you don't have to take my word for it

Every so often after I've reviewed a book, I read another review of the same book that makes me want to jump up and down because it's so incisive (and, okay, confirms what I've already said about it). This week, may I direct you to Thomas Mallon on THE STRANGER'S CHILD in the New York Times Book Review. The news at the bottom that Mallon has a new book out soon (February!) is an extra treat.

I haven't read any of Thomas Mallon's novels. Which of them would you recommend that I read first?

I would also point out that James Wood's review in the New Yorker was also excellent.

Wood's review was good, but a little snippy I thought.

As for Thomas Mallon, FELLOW TRAVELERS is probably my favorite but I'd advise you start with HENRY AND CLARA. It's based on a true (but very messed up) story.
