This is Cashmere, the resident cat at Explore Booksellers in Aspen, Colorado. You may think that chair, in Explore's backroom next to the note cards, is for you. But it is for the cat, and if you settle into it to inspect your potential purchases, the cat will stand next to you meowing loudly until you relinquish the spot. It will be mistaken for a ploy for attention, but attention is not what it wants.
Check out this neat Wall Street Journal article about the bookstore's change in ownership in 2007 and how it was saved by a loyal patron.

...Yeah, what he said.
Anyone have an opinion on Janice Clark's upcoming THE RATHBONES? Sounds interesting, trying to determine exactly *how* interesting.
I hadn't heard of it before you mentioned it, but it probably isn't quite in my wheelhouse. So, I have no educated opinion, is what I'm saying.
Did you manage to get ahold of your copy of NIGHT FILM yet? I thought it was solid, though I had quibbles. It turned out that it wasn't really my type of book, but I could see it being in a lot of other people's wheelhouse. A link to my spoiler-free review, but if you're planning to read it then I'd say not to read my review, if that makes sense: http://dhsayer.blogspot.com/2013/07/night-film-review.html
Is CARTWHEEL by Jennifer Dubois on your radar? (Honestly, I'm just working off The Million's 2nd half of the year preview, trying to pick out stuff that sounds promising. Playing the ARC game can be like throwing darts sometimes. If you want a reco that is actually out right now and I've actually read, I'd say THE FLAMETHROWERS without any reservation. Amazing, amazing book.)
