"This is probably the most pulpy, overwrought, melodramatic cowboy vs. Indians story ever written."
--Nicholas Sparks to USA Today on Cormac McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN. When reached for comment, McCarthy responded, "Who?"

Okay, not really. Writers Sparks actually likes: Ernest Hemingway, J.D. Salinger.

Make what your ring tone?

Someone saying "You shut your sass mouth, Nicholas Sparks!" Preferably a lady with a Southern accent. For maximum tell-offness.

Oh, dear. Nicholas Sparks is a Notre Dame product. Welll...I guess I can understand overwrought, but it's way too weird and original to be pulpy. And NICHOLAS SPARKS accusing someone of being melodramatic is like Lady Gaga calling somebody weird.
