Who's a genius? You are!
...If your name is A.E. Stallings (poet), Peter Hessler (journalist) or Kay Ryan (former Poet Laureate), recipients all of the MacArthur Genius Grant as of this morning.
I haven't read any of his books but they come highly recommended from you and others. I did read his wife's book about China, FACTORY GIRLS, which was terrific.
I'm excited about Pete Hessler--I've really enjoyed and gained a lot from his writing about China, and he should be able to put the grant to good use.
